With over 20 years of experience and knees that can predict uneven subfloors better than a spirit level, Dave is our resident Lead Floor Inspector.
Known for his uncanny ability to spot a ridge from across the room and his refusal to trust anything that isn’t perfectly flat, Dave takes flooring very seriously… perhaps too seriously.
Armed with a tape measure, a straightedge, and a strong cup of tea, he’s inspected everything from luxury show homes to that one kitchen where “it’ll be fine” definitely wasn’t fine. Dave firmly believes that preparation is everything—second only to pointing out that “you’ll feel that bump every time you walk over it.”
When he’s not ensuring surfaces are millimetre-perfect, Dave enjoys explaining why floors squeak, debating the correct direction to lay planks, and reminding everyone that yes, he did tell them that would happen.
Gary has spent so long inspecting floors that he now instinctively walks into every room slightly bent-kneed, just in case.
As our Senior Floor Inspector, he has an extraordinary talent for finding imperfections nobody else can see until, of course, he points them out and you can never unsee them.
With decades in the trade, Gary has developed a sixth sense for subfloor issues, often declaring “that’s not right” before he’s even put his tools down.
He firmly believes that a perfect floor starts with perfect preparation, and takes great pride in stopping problems before they happen (and occasionally reminding everyone about it afterwards).
Outside of work, Gary enjoys DIY projects that mysteriously end with him redoing them “properly,” inspecting floors in shops uninvited, and shaking his head quietly at badly laid laminate everywhere he goes.
